A very good friend of mine moved to Guatemala a few years ago. She is one of the most creative, capable people I know. She built a little paradise in a small fishing village right on the coast. I finally got there to visit her. The trip was the best possible balance of relaxation and adventure. We started at her place on the beach (with lots of food and drink), went paddleboarding in the mangroves and ended in Antigua by climbing a mountain and camping to watch a live volcano erupting on a starrry night. It was tough, I'm not going to lie, but 100% worth it to watch Mother Nature strut her stuff. Now, back in snowy Colorado, but feeling very grateful for good friends and amazing adventures.
Here are photos from all parts of the trip in no particular order.
